General Membership Meeting
There were 52 people present at the December Membership meeting. This was a very good turnout for the membership meeting. Come out to support YOUR club!
The club by-laws require that Active and Associate members sign the register book 12 “SCHEDULED” Club functions a year. Attending a membership meeting gets you credit for ½ of a work hour. Scheduled functions are dinners, varmint league, archery shoots, membership meetings, open trap, military rifle league, work parties, campout weekend, etc (any function listed on the club calendar). Many members do not sign the book. There is no penalty for not signing the book but signing in helps to show who is really interested in participating in the club events.
“The right hand 4 ft. sq. rubber backstop on the rifle range is for black powder and shotgun target shooting. Please use this so that you do not destroy the large backstop rubber with large caliber weapons. Members need to clean up their brass, remove their targets and staples from the backstop, fill out an envelope with how many rounds they fired and what caliber, and “PAY WHEN THEY USE THE RANGE”. Members need to sign the book located in the back entryway when they go down to the range”. For SAFETY reasons all pistol shooting must take place from inside the pistol house. No shooting from the ground in front of the house!
Any Club Use events must be approved by the Directors at least “60 days” in advance of the event to avoid scheduling conflicts with regularly scheduled club events.
When hosting an event and using the kitchen, be sure to Contact Mark Weyher @ 734-587-2080 and let him know your needs so that he can make sure you have the necessary kitchen supplies. Members hosting events are responsible for their own kitchen food preparation and cleanup.
Election of officers for 2010
Election of officers took place on December 17, 2009 at the General Membership meeting. The new officers for 2010 are:
President: Art Bleau, Vice President: Doug Gilson, Treasurer: Donn Wobser, Secretary: Dennis Goodman
Directors: Josh Everett, Tony Grant, Mark Weyher.
Thanks to the outgoing Directors for the fine job they did while serving.
Dues Are DUE!!!
Membership Dues are now due for 2010 and must be paid by January 31, 2010. Dues are $80.00 plus $10.00 for each work hour that you “do not” have “STAMPED” by a Director, Club Officer, or Committee Chairperson, on your club membership card. DO NOT include any money for the MUCC Magazine. The membership chairman will no longer be handling this. Dues may be paid at the January 21, 2010 membership meeting or by mail (see below). NEW MEMBERS cannot buy their hours in their first year of membership. You MUST work your hours for the first year of membership! If you are putting your dues in the safe at the club, please include your ORIGINAL membership card (NO COPIES) and include the correct amount of money due in an envelope marked “2010 Dues” on the outside. To pay by mail include your ORIGINAL membership card (NO COPIES) along with the correct amount of money due (check or money order) and mail them to Matthew Goodman, 4665 E. Newport Rd. Newport, MI 48166.
Big Buck Contest
The Big Buck Contest antlers for 2009 will be judged at the January 21, 2010 membership meeting. You must have entered “BEFORE” you killed your deer (tags will be checked). The deer must be a legal kill (NO ROAD KILL). The deer must be taken in Michigan (tags will be checked). Antlers must be presented at the January 2010 General Membership meeting for judging or verified by at least one board member if the antlers cannot be brought in. The antlers will be judged for the number of points and the largest outside spread. The contest is open to “Club Members Only”. The 1st prize award will be ½ of the total entry money. 2nd prize this year, instead of the best hunting story, will be given for best picture taken at deer camp, while hunting, or with a deer (dead or alive).
