Martin Okkerse wishes to express his deepest thanks for all of the cards, thoughts, and prayers from the club and the membership while he was in the hospital.

A box will be put out at the steak roasts for donations of non-perishable canned goods for the soup kitchen. It has been pointed out that the poor do not need to eat just at Christmas. Give generously!
The RED flag has been installed at the gate to the rifle/pistol range. When you go down range to shoot, raise the flag to the top of the pole to show that the range is active. No one is signing the book located at the range gate for the rifle/pistol range. The book needs to be signed when you go down range. The gate is being left open and the flag is being left up when people are done shooting and no one is left down range.
7th Annual Wild Game Dinner for 2011
Plans are now finalized for the 7th Annual Maybee Sportsman Club Wild Game Dinner that will be held on February 26, 2011. A few tickets are still available. There will be 150 tickets available for the dinner. The cost for the dinner is $30.00. Doors will open at 5:00 PM and dinner will be served at 6:30 PM. We are also looking for door prizes for the dinner. Anything in the way of sporting goods items or outdoor items would be appreciated. Varmint Shoot March 5th

30-3D Archery Shoot March 13th
There will be a 30-3D archery shoot at Maybee Sportsman Club on March 13th. Target setup and a work party is March 12th from NOON until complete. Contact Chuck Siffer at 734-439-7466 or Josh Everett at 419-467-7700 for more information.
Steak Roast March 12th
Jim Vincent, Dave Vincent, James Vincent and John Little will host the March 12th Steak Roast. Help is always needed. 100 steaks will be purchased for the next dinner. Everyone is invited out to have a good time. The February 12th steak roast was also hosted by Jim Vincent, Dave Vincent, James Vincent and John Little. 82 dinners were sold at the February steak roast. Sarah Fox won the next free dinners. Thanks to Jim Vincent, Dave Vincent, James Vincent and John Little, and all of the other helpers that made the February steak roast a success. For new members in the club, a steak roast is not hard to host or to help with and it is an easy way to get your work hours in. The cost of a Steak Dinner is $13.00. If you can host a Steak Roast or wish to help with one, please contact Dennis Williams @ 734-467-5282 and let him know that you would like to help out. If you are bringing a large group to the steak roast, contact Dennis Williams and let him know so that he may get extra steaks. Come out and support YOUR club!
MCCC Traveling Trap League
We are tied for 5th place with Canvasback in the MCCC Traveling Trap League. The next shoot will be at Carleton on Sunday March 13th. On April 10th we will shoot at Brest Bay. Come out and shoot to support your club!
Chili Cook-Off January 29th
The Chili Cook off for 2011 was held on January 29th. Steve Stull and Dennis Williams were joint chairmen for the event this year. The judging was very close but 1st place was won by Steve Stull, 2nd place by Steve Fennelly and 3rd place by Ben Straub. Two of the winners were prospective new members in our club. All of the chili was excellent. The judges had a very hard time picking a winner.
Winter Indoor Archery League
The winter Indoor Archery League started shooting Tuesday, January 4th at 7:00 PM. They have 21 shooters signed up. The league will run for 10 weeks. The cost is $40.00 per person and they will shoot in 3 man teams the same as last year.
2011 Archery Travel League
The schedule for the 2011 Archery Travel League is as follows: February 27th @ Dundee, March 6th @ Canvasback, March 20th @ Monroe Rod & Gun, April 10th @ Maybee Sportsman Club, April 17th @ Dundee, May 1st @ Canvasback, May 22nd @ Monroe Rod & Gun, June 12th @ Maybee Sportsman Club, June 26th @ Dundee, and August 21st @ Monroe Rod & Gun. Annual Carlton Beer Shoot March 26th
The annual beer shoot against Carleton Sportsman Club will be held Saturday March 26th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Carleton Sportsman Club. For details, contact Doug Gilson @ 734-645-5231. Come out and shoot for the Maybee Sportsman Club. The losing club pays for the beer! Shoot as good as you can to help keep the “losers” trophy where it belongs at Carleton Sportsman Club.
Military Rifle Shoot Saturday March 12th
The next Military Rifle Shoot will be held Saturday March 12th at 5:00 PM until finished. Starting in April, and through October, the Military Rifle Shoot will be held at 6:00 PM the last Tuesday of the month. Watch the calendar for any change in dates or times. The fee for the Military Rifle Shoot is $5.00 for club members and $6.00 for non-members with prize money paid. Any Military Rifle is allowed. The rifle used must be stock, open sights, and unmodified. We shoot 20 rounds of rifle and 5 rounds of handgun. The handgun must be stock with open sights and may be any caliber. Handgun is 5 shots @ 25 yards. Rifle is 10 rounds @ 50 yards and 10 rounds @ 100 yards on the rail or prone. We would like more shooters to participate. Welcome New Members
We would like to welcome 5 new Associate members to the Maybee Sportsman Club. They are associate members Dave Ball, Stephen Caplinger, Larry Gramlich, Ben Straub, and John Warren. Come out, meet the members, and participate in club activities such as Archery, Trap, Varmint League, and our famous Steak Roast Dinners.
Junior Travel Trap League

Club Apparel
Club apparel is in the NEW showcase! Martin Okkerse has taken over the duties of club apparel. Decals of the club logo are now available for $6.00. A good stock of shirts from Medium to 2XL is on hand. There are also 2 Extra Large jackets in stock. See the club website for pricing on club apparel. Contact Martin Okkerse before 8:00 PM at 734-587-3566 or see him at the Membership meetings to order shirts, hats, jackets, or any other items that you may want embroidered with the club logo. There is a price list posted at the showcase.
Sponsoring New Members
When you sponsor new members, remember the dues are $80.00 per year and the initiation fee is $100.00 (NOTE THE NEW RATE) ($180.00 total). Make sure their money is included with their application and that the prospective new members know that they “MUST WORK” their hours the first year of membership. Applicants for Associate membership should show up at the meeting when they are being voted into the club or have a good reason why they can’t be there.
