There will be a rifle range work party Saturday April 30^th starting at 12:00 Noon at the 300 Yard line to construct a shelter over the 300 yard line benches. Contact Dave Rochon @ 734-276-2762 or Jim Meadows @ 313-820-2731 if you can help.

The RED flag has been installed at the gate to the rifle/pistol range. When you go down range to shoot, raise the flag to the top of the pole to show that the range is active. Not everyone is signing the book located at the range gate for the rifle/pistol range. The book needs to be signed when you go down range. The gate is being left open and the flag is being left up when people are done shooting and no one is left down range.

*****7^th Annual Mexican Fiesta Dinner May 7^th *****

Dennis and Rebecca Williams will host the 7^th annual Mexican Fiesta Dinner May 7^th starting at 6:00 PM.  The cost per meal is $11.00.  If you missed the dinner last year, you missed an “OUTSTANDING DINNER” and a fantastic time!!!  Dennis and Rebecca put a lot of effort into the preparation of the food.  Please contact Dennis or Rebecca Williams @ 734-467-5282 or 734-673-2184 to let them know if you are attending or for more details so they may have an idea of how much food they need to prepare.  Help is needed starting at 1:00 PM.

Varmint Shoot May 7^th                     

The Varmint Shoot will be held May 7^th at 10:00 AM.  Sign in from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.  Center fire starts shooting @ 10:00 AM.  Contact Tom Gray @ 734-439-1976, Dave Rochon @ 734-461-6090 or Dennis Sisung @ 734-654-9747 for more details.

Steak Roast May 14^th

Joe Kane and Dave Ammerman will host the May 14^th Steak Roast. Help is always needed. 80 steaks will be purchased for the next dinner. Everyone is invited out to have a good time. The April 9^th steak roast was hosted by Joe Kane and Dave Ammerman.  93 dinners were sold at the April steak roast. Jeff Zabel won the next free dinners.  Thanks to Joe Kane and Dave Ammerman, and all of the other helpers that made the April steak roast a success.   For new members in the club, a steak roast is not hard to host or to help with and it is an easy way to get your work hours in.  The cost of a Steak Dinner is $13.00.  If you can host a Steak Roast or wish to help with one, please contact Dennis Williams @ 734-467-5282 and let him know that you would like to help out.  If you are bringing a large group to the steak roast, contact Dennis Williams and let him know so that he may get extra steaks.  Come out and support YOUR club!

MCCC Traveling Trap League

We are in 5^th place by 2 targets in the MCCC Traveling Trap League. The next shoot will be at Wayne County on Sunday May 22^nd. On June 12^th we will shoot at Ottawa Lake. Come out and shoot to support your club!

2011 Archery Travel League

The schedule for the 2011 Archery Travel League is as follows: May 1^st @ Canvasback, May 22^nd @ Monroe Rod & Gun, June 12^th @ Maybee Sportsman Club, June 26^th @ Dundee, and August 21^st @ Monroe Rod & Gun. Annual Carlton Beer Shoot March 26^th

The Annual Beer Shoot against Carlton Sportsman Club on March 26^th was a disaster. Maybee Sportsman lost by 21 birds.  This is only the fourth time MSC has ever lost this shoot.  Next year we will work to take back the lead and send the “losers” trophy back to Carleton Sportsman Club where it belongs.

There are still openings for the concealed pistol license class to be held on Saturday April 30^th and Sunday May 1^st at the club.  You must attend both days to get your certificate. Saturday May 1st will be classroom instruction from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday May 1^st will be live fire on the range from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You MUST own your own pistol to take this class.  The cost is $100.00 for non-members of the Maybee Sportsman Club and $50.00 for members of the Maybee Sportsman Club.  A simple lunch will be available for a fee. Military Rifle Shoot Tuesday May 14^th and May 31^st                  

Starting in April and through October there will be two Military Rifle Shoots each month. The Saturday shoot at 5:00 PM before the steak roast will continue. Contact Dennis Sisung @ 734-654-9747 for details. The Tuesday evening Military Rifle Shoot will be held Tuesday May 31^st at 6:00 PM until finished. Watch the calendar for any change in dates or times.  The fee for the Military Rifle Shoot is $5.00 for club members and $6.00 for non-members with prize money paid.  Any Military Rifle is allowed.  The rifle used must be stock, open sights, and unmodified. We shoot 20 rounds of rifle and 5 rounds of handgun. The handgun must be stock with open sights and may be any caliber. Handgun is 5 shots @ 25 yards. Rifle is 10 rounds @ 50 yards and 10 rounds @ 100 yards on the rail or prone. Range Safety Officer Training

There is a sign up sheet on the club bulletin board for taking Range Safety Officer Training. Sign the sheet on the bulletin board or contact Donn Wobser @ 734-269-6394 if you are interested or for more information.

Welcome New Members

We would like to welcome 2 new Associate members to the Maybee Sportsman Club.  They are associate members Scott Hicks and Richard Rife Jr.  Come out, meet the members, and participate in club activities such as Archery, Trap, Varmint League, and our famous Steak Roast Dinners.

Club Apparel

Club apparel is in the showcase!  Martin Okkerse has taken over the duties of club apparel.  Decals of the club logo are now available for $6.00. A good stock of shirts from Medium to 2XL is on hand.  There are also 2 Extra Large jackets in stock. See the club website for pricing on club apparel. Contact Martin Okkerse before 8:00 PM at 734-587-3566 or see him at the Membership meetings to order shirts, hats, jackets, or any other items that you may want embroidered with the club logo. There is a price list posted at the showcase.

Sponsoring New Members

When you sponsor new members, remember the dues are $80.00 per year and the initiation fee is $100.00 (NOTE THE NEW RATE) ($180.00 total).  Make sure their money is included with their application and that the prospective new members know that they “MUST WORK” their hours the first year of membership. Applicants for Associate membership should show up at the meeting when they are being voted into the club or have a good reason why they can’t be there.
