MCCC Traveling Trap League 2011
Banquet will be held September 18th @ Dundee
There were 35 people present at the August Membership meeting. Support YOUR club!
When open trap is going on Sundays and Wednesday nights please do not use the benches back behind the 100 yard line.
When you come out to the club for any event, make sure you sign the membership book located inside of the back room of the club. The club by-laws require you as a member to sign the book at least 12 times per year.
The Directors Meeting has been moved to 1 hour before the membership meeting on September 15th due to the Labor Day holiday.
We are loosing money at the bar due to members taking double shots and not paying for beer and pop.
*****Campout Weekend August 26th, 27th, 28th *****
Campout weekend will be held August 26th, 27th, and 28th. Campout weekend will be hosted this year by Scott Vorrath, Terry Younglove, and Dennis Williams. Donations are being accepted for the auction. Bring anything to the club that you feel would be sold in the auction. Sporting items, household items, etc. any items that you would be willing to purchase for yourself. Please no junk!!! Any items not sold will be returned to the person that donated the item. The chicken dinner will be Sunday August 28th at 1:00 PM. The auction will follow the dinner.
MUCC District 2 Meeting and Dinner
The MUCC meeting and dinner will be held September 27th at the Maybee Sportsman Club. Help will be needed with the dinner. Contact John Kessler @ 734-697-3882 for more information.
Varmint Shoot September 3rd

Steak Roast September 10th
Scott Klostermeier and Scott Wipple will host the September 10th Steak Roast. Help is always needed. 80 steaks will be purchased for the next dinner. Everyone is invited out to have a good time. The August 13th steak roast was hosted by Chris Mozingo and Terry Seifert. 62 dinners were sold at the August steak roast. Herb Spletzer won the next free dinners. Thanks to Chris Mozingo, Terry Seifert, and all of the other helpers that made the August steak roast a success. For new members in the club, a steak roast is not hard to host or to help with and it is an easy way to get your work hours in. The cost of a Steak Dinner is $13.00. If you can host a Steak Roast or wish to help with one, please contact Dennis Williams @ 734-467-5282 and let him know that you would like to help out. If you are bringing a large group to the steak roast, contact Dennis Williams and let him know so that he may get extra steaks. Come out and support YOUR club!
MCCC Traveling Trap League
The Maybee Sportsman Club is holding 4th place behind The Dundee Sportsman Club in the MCCC Traveling Trap League. We are 8 targets out of 3rd place. The next shoot will be at Dundee on Sunday August 28th. Come out and shoot to support your club! The MCCC Travel League Banquet and Lewis Shoot will be held September 25th at The Dundee Sportsman Club.
30-3D Archery Shoot September 18th
There will be a 30-3D archery shoot at Maybee Sportsman Club on September 18th. 30-3D Target setup is Saturday, September 17th from NOON until complete. Contact Chuck Siffer at 734-439-7466 or Josh Everett at 419-467-7700 for more information.

Tickets for The Gun-A-Day raffle are now available. Contact Art Bleau @ 734-439-8306 to get tickets to sell or if you would like to purchase tickets. All Gun-A-Day raffle tickets or money must be turned in 30 days before the drawing starts on November 1st.
2011 Archery Travel League

Concealed Pistol License Class Sept. 17th and Sept. 18th
There are still openings for the concealed pistol license class to be held on Saturday September 17th and Sunday September 18th at the club. You must attend both days to get your certificate. Saturday September 17th will be classroom instruction from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday September 18th will be live fire on the range from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You MUST own your own pistol to take this class. The cost is $100.00 for non-members of the Maybee Sportsman Club and $50.00 for members of the Maybee Sportsman Club. Big Buck Contest
It is time to start thinking about the Big Buck Contest for 2011. Registration slips are in an envelope on the bulletin board at the club. The rules for this year are: Entry fee is $10.00. If you are going bow hunting, you MUST enter by October 1st. You must enter “BEFORE” you kill your deer (tags will be checked). The deer must be a legal kill (NO ROAD KILL). The deer must be taken in Michigan (tags will be checked). Antlers must be presented at the January Membership meeting for judging or verified by at least one board member if the antlers cannot be brought in. The antlers will be judged for the number of points and the largest outside spread. The contest is open to “Club Members Only”. The 1st prize award will be ½ of the total entry money. 2nd prize this year, instead of the best hunting story, will be given for best picture taken at deer camp, while hunting, or with a deer (dead or alive). To enter, place your entry fee in an envelope. Put your name, the date, and the words “Big Buck Contest” on the outside of the envelope and place the envelope in the safe at the club or give it to a Director or club Officer.
Hunter Safety August 9th, 11th, and 13th
The Hunter Safety Class held on August 9th, 11th, and 13th had 76 students. 10 of the students got 100% on their final test with 46 students getting 90% or better on their final test.
Military Rifle Shoot Tuesday September 27th
Starting in April and through October there will be two Military Rifle Shoots each month. The Saturday shoot at 5:00 PM before the steak roast will continue. Contact Dennis Sisung @ 734-654-9747 for details. The Tuesday evening Military Rifle Shoot will be held Tuesday September 27th at 6:00 PM until finished. Watch the calendar for any change in dates or times. The fee for the Military Rifle Shoot is $5.00 for club members and $6.00 for non-members with prize money paid. Any Military Rifle is allowed. The rifle used must be stock, open sights, and unmodified. We shoot 20 rounds of rifle and 5 rounds of handgun. The handgun must be stock with open sights and may be any caliber. Handgun is 5 shots @ 25 yards. Rifle is 10 rounds @ 50 yards and 10 rounds @ 100 yards on the rail or prone. We would like more shooters to participate. Club Apparel
Club apparel is in the showcase! Martin Okkerse has taken over the duties of club apparel. Decals of the club logo are now available for $6.00. A good stock of shirts from Medium to 2XL is on hand. There are also 2 Extra Large jackets in stock. See the club website for pricing on club apparel. Contact Martin Okkerse before 8:00 PM at 734-587-3566 or see him at the Membership meetings to order shirts, hats, jackets, or any other items that you may want embroidered with the club logo. There is a price list posted at the showcase.
Sponsoring New Members
When you sponsor new members, remember the dues are $80.00 per year and the initiation fee is $100.00 (NOTE THE NEW RATE) ($180.00 total). Make sure their money is included with their application and that the prospective new members know that they “MUST WORK” their hours the first year of membership. Applicants for Associate membership should show up at the meeting when they are being voted into the club or have a good reason why they can’t be there.
